Introduction

Scope of Assessment

The aim of the mission was to provide a snapshot to the USAR team name on the current state of preparedness of their international Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team. The assessment was based on the five components of a USAR team as required by the INSARAG Guidelines which includes Management, Logistics, Search, Rescue and Medical.

The Assessment involved a series of interviews with key stakeholders and visited several strategic sites as well as observing a skills demonstration in compiling its findings. The Assessment paid particular attention to the systems and procedures required in accordance with the INSARAG Guidelines on international disaster response mission cycle i.e. Preparedness, Mobilisation, Operations, Demobilisation and Post Mission Activities and also taking reference of the INSARAG IEC/R checklist.
